How To Get Back In The Flow - Helen Leathers, Transformational Women's Coach, Trainer, Speaker



I mentioned in a previous article that sometimes I get stuck. (take a look here if you haven’t read it). I get out of the flow and I need to re-connect with my intuitive self to help me get back on track. So I thought I’d share the things that work to help me to get unstuck.

We all get stuck sometimes. the trick is to know what works for you to get unstuck. Here are some pointers that should help you to discover or realise what works for you.

  • Planning too much stifles me. It puts me in my own way. But maybe it works really well for you?
  • I need thinking time, but not too much. Again too much thinking time sends me off in ever decreasing circles and I get stuck. The best thing for me to do is to do something that allows my mind processing (rather than thinking) time, where I’m not actually thinking about the matter at hand. Set aside some quiet time when you start to get stuck. Meditate, go for a swim, or a walk. you’ll be amazed that suddenly you’ll get an idea or some clarity when you’re least expecting it.
  • Talk it through – especially of you spend a lot of time alone – maybe you’re self-employed, a lone worker, or a stay at home parent. Let the person know that you don’t need them to provide the solution – they might, or they might ask the right question, or you might suddenly answer your own question, as if by magic! (You already know the answer intuitively!)
  • I am quite the procrastinator! Over-thinking and over-planning not only block my creativity, my thought processes and my intuition, but they’re a great way to put off actually getting on with things. So finally, one very important thing that I know works – Just Do It! 

It’s about getting to know yourself, and then remembering what to do when you start to feel stuck so that you too can get back in the flow.
