Think You're Not Intuitive? Here are the top reasons you might believe that.

Oh, I’m Not Intuitive!

I’ve heard it from a few people. The other one is, ‘I don’t have an intuitive bone in my body!’

And to be honest, I just smile and say, ‘Oh really?’

Because I believe everyone has a little natural intuition going on for them. They may call it something different, or they may not realise they have it, but they do. (There’s a whole other article here on that will help you find your intuitive side if you need to – but read this one first!)

Here are some reasons I believe that you may question whether you’re intuitive. If you think you’re not intuitive, take a look and see if any of these ring a bell (however tiny) for you.

Your inner voice is way too quiet and little!

It may be so quiet that you just don’t hear it. Or you may think you hear something – ‘What was that?’ But no, way too quiet, I can’t hear it! There are lots of reasons it may be quiet – more on that another time – but there are also ways that you can improve its volume. See my top ten tips for developing your intuition.

Your life is way too busy and loud. Life is just too crazy, there is too much going on.

A combination of the first two! This is probably the number one biggest reason most people (women) think they’re not intuitive! As I have said on many occasions, as the volume of your life goes up, the volume of your quiet inner voice goes down. It’s a bad, bad, bad combination! But it’s quite fixable, you just need to reverse it! Try meditation as the number one best way to do this.

You may be getting in your own way. Sometimes we think we know best. We have a plan; this is what is going to happen and that’s that! Sometimes things don’t work exactly to plan. Sometimes our plans are wrong and life/the universe/destiny…. has other plans for us. If we aren’t humble enough to go with it, to take a chance, or perhaps admit we are wrong, we end up completely ignoring our intuition and pretending it’s not there.

You may be following your heart (or emotions) instead of your intuition. This is especially the case when you repeatedly make mistakes in relationships. Our emotions are controlled by our hormones (I know, I know!), and our intuition is something entirely different. You may overrule your intuition because of how you (emotionally) want things to turn out. That part of you can feel really powerful, but it’s not intuition. Read more here: Why Following Your Intuition Is Not The Same As Following Your Heart!

You just haven’t realised you’re doing it:

No. 1. You’ve been mistaking intuition for what you thought was common sense. Believe me, not everyone has the sort of common sense you might have! Talk to a few people and you’ll find out. That’s why things just magically happen, or weird coincidences occur for you. It may not be common sense after all!

No. 2. It’s completely natural & you don’t realise you’re doing it. Doesn’t everyone do what I do? Isn’t it just called being alive? No, not everyone does it like you do. You’re probably seen by others as leading a charmed life!

Wait, There Are More Reasons

You’ve been told by yourself (or someone else) that you’re not intuitive. Simple really. Keep telling yourself something or let someone else tell you something, and it will become your reality. Your intuition is there, but it’s hidden under the dust and cobwebs of your self-confidence and belief. I think it may be time to dust your old friend off and let her out to play! As I saw on Facebook just before writing this,

‘You believed in Santa for 8(?) years, you can at least believe in yourself for 5 minutes’.

You’ve shut it out. Do you see it as a weakness? Something to be embarrassed about – especially in the business world? Maybe you’re surrounded by men (I know, not all men are non-believers), or super-logical people who want ‘reasons why’. Maybe you just don’t feel you can justify your decisions by simply saying ‘it just feels right’.

So, if you had thought you weren’t intuitive, but now you’re thinking, well…?

Then maybe you’d like to take a look at some reasons I think it’s worth developing your intuitive side so that you are more in tune with it – there’s a list right here called – Why You Should Follow Your Intuition!

Hi Helen, you couldn’t more right. I want to share with you an experience I had about
25 years ago that quite literally saved my life. I used to get a thrill by driving exceedingly fast. I was driving on the interstate through Vermont at the time and traffic
was very light so I thought it would be fun to see how fast my car could actually go. Needless to say I buried the speedometer. After doing this for several miles the thought
had occurred to me that if I blow a tire at this speed I more than likely would be killed. No sooner did I slow the car down to the legal speed (60 mph) and you guessed it, my driver side front tire exploded. It wasn’t difficult to get the car over to the shoulder safely but had I not taken that inner voice seriously the story would have a much different ending. Through the years I’ve had many experiences but nothing quite as dramatic as the one I described.

Wow, thanks for sharing. So glad you heard and listened to that inner voice, and i bet you are too. X
